ADSL woes

A friend asked me today if my ADSL has been more unreliable, disconnects etc, after I moved to 8MBit. I thought about it and thought not, but in retrospect I think he is right, ADSL MAX sucks for uptime, mine is down again. Bastards. I need to make my router reboot itself when the line drops….

In other news I have become addicted to the two finger scrolling thing on my MacBook…

They are currently trying to blame it on microfilters, and have given me a questionnaire that apparently is required by BT before they investigate. However, what they need me to do is disconnect all of my telephones and replace the microfilters, which will need to be left in place for 3 days, as it’s hardly an easy problem to replicate. If I don’t do this, and it was my problem, then I get charged 100 pounds. I have pointed out the stupidity of the situation, and that I was not informed that my previously perfectly functional filters were not “compatible” with the new service. I am still awaiting a response.

I have a “high quality” filter ‘cos the Alcatel one that came with my modem caused my caller display not to work. It was reccommended to me by a friend who worked for an ADSL provider, he had tested dozens of filters and the one I have was the best (and looks like 50p of shite chinese quality, bonus!).

I know. Mine came from the same place.
