It annoys me that many cyclists think that they can jump red lights, ride on the pavement and generally do what they want. They can&#8217;t, they are covered by the same laws as cars in these regards. I stop at red lights (often trackstanding for my own amusement) and only ride where I shouldn&#8217;t when I&#8217;m riding urban (which is itself is illegal and if I get fined I have no grounds to complain). Hopefully these cyclists will eventually learn to be responsible riders, but until then the police should be fining them &#8211; the cheek of this guy complaining its a waste of public money for the officer to have stopped and fined him, I mean.. bah! Sure , if the guy wants the laws changed, thats cool, we live in a democracy, go write to your MP. For now though the chap needs to realise he isn&#8217;t above the law and should abide by it (no doubt he&#8217;d whinge about a car running a red at 5.55am).
