Its odd really. A desktop boxen at work got hit by the new SoBig.f variant today. If you didn’t know, its a virus that has its own inbuilt mail server so it can send itself out fast. Its pretty sweet really, thankfully port 25 is firewalled both ways, so we just saw a lot of log activity. What most impressed me though was the firewall blocked over a thousand outgoing connection in under 5 minutes from this boxen, which leave me wondering something… If a virus on a Windows desktop system can send that many mails that fast, why can’t an Exchange server do that? 😉
