Ice Ice Baby

Well there you go. A quiet night in never manages to be dull in my life. This evening it was enlivened by my freezer, which had managed to become one huge lump of ice. But not just normal ice, no, that nice crystal clear ice that artists make sculptures with. Pretty! So much ice it filled my sink too. Thankfully nothing much in the freezer so not much food will be wasted.

A pretty good day at work today. Dell delivered the RAM to the colo as promised, and the nice ‘hands and eyes’ man at MCI swapped out the bad RAM and fitted the new. We’ll bring the server back into the cluster tomorrow and see is its all happy again.

I have to say I never want to do another domain transfer again for a very long while, after doing 63 manually today. 63 “yes I do want to transfer” forms to fill in tomorrow. Its just joyous! Oh yes.

Still have not pin pointed the cause of me crashing Avoriaz (my co-lo box). I tried ‘grep -ri ping’ in the /proc of two of my home machines and they did not die. The biggest difference is that my co-lo box has an Intel RAID card in with an i2o controller, so thats my current suspect. Strangely I don’t really want to crash the box remotely again, so debugging will have to wait till next time I am in London.

Bike spares all ordered and I have enough to make my bike fully workable for this weekend, so life is good 🙂

Why you did that rather than find /proc -name ‘*ping*’ I don’t know. 😉

Anyway, does it still do it? Try it on each directory in /proc? The usual suspect is /proc/kcore…
