Bastards

So, this morning there is no hot water. I have an ‘on-demand’ system so I peer at the boiler, its looks okay but the ‘pressure’ dial is on zero. I have no manual, but sticker says this should be between 0.7 and 2.5, so zero is a bit low. I peer into the boiler and see no pilot light, I reset, nothing. I turn gas valve off and on, nothing. I call Transco to see if gas is off, they try to tell me this is an emergency requiring an engineer, I ponder. Main gas valve twiddling indicates gas coming into properly, I call Transco back and cancel the call. I turn gas off. I peer at boiler and spot a leak. Bugger. I call landlord’s 24 hour maintenance people… Boilers, they say, are not an emergency so I have no hot water or heating for the weekend. Bastards!
